BPT or Bachelor of Physiotherapy is a four-year undergraduate professional course that deals with the science of physical movement and channelising it to prevent disability and diseases of movement. Bachelor of Physiotherapy course is a 4½ year degree with the last 6 months being a compulsory internship. Physiotherapists or Physios are often referred to as "movement specialist" as they are trained to assess various physical conditions through body movements. Their main aim is to improve physical fitness through exercises and massages. Physiotherapists also use scientific techniques such as electrotherapy, shockwave mobility, etc. to treat patients.
MPT or Master of Physiotherapy is a course that deals with the study of physical therapy for joints related issues. It is a 2 year full-time professional degree. MPT lays more emphasis on the techniques and methods used for physiotherapy including both modern techniques and the natural ones.
The minimum eligibility required to pursue this course is aggregate 50% score in BPT from a recognized board or university. The qualifying percentage may vary from institute to institute. To pursue this course, you might have to appear for entrance exams too like IPU CET, NEET PG and alike. MPT subjects include study of Anatomy and Physiology of Nervous and Cardiovascular systems, Motor Development, Biomechanics of tissues and alike.
The course includes anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, psychology, medical and surgical conditions, biomechanics, kinesiology, disability prevention, rehabilitation and other subjects. Musculoskeletal injuries are injuries to joints, muscles, bones and or nerves.
This course taught students how to treat the patients suffered from respiratory problems, airway clearance, cardio-thoracic surgery, secretions removal, and other chest compilations surgeries using independent and manual chest PT techniques. Admission to MPT Cardiorespiratory is based on merit-list or entrance-based.
B.Sc. Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) is an undergraduate medical Lab technology program. Medical Laboratory technology program also known as medical laboratory science is an allied health profession that is concerned with the remedy, prognosis and prevention of disease through using clinical laboratory tests. During the program these tests help candidates to examine and diagnose, detect and treat illnesses. Moreover the program deals with the collecting of information's sampling, reporting, checking out and documentation.
B.Sc. Medical Biochemistry is a 3 year undergraduate Biochemistry course. Medical biochemistry is the study of biochemical exchanges that occur within the human body in relation to their application in the field of medicine. The course covers some of the topics such as molecular biology, endocrinology, and cellular biology medical biochemistry. Medical biochemists must study often to stay on the cutting edge of this ever-expanding branch of science. The duration of the course is three years and it is job orienting in nature that opens many scopes for the candidates after its completion.
Bachelor of Science in Microbiology involves the study of the biology of bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi. The main focus of this program is the study of pathogenic potential of the disease-causing organisms in man. This program also covers aspects of Biochemistry, Physiology, and Genetics of Microorganisms.
B. Sc. Optometry is a 3 year undergraduate degree course which deals with the examination, diagnosis, treatment and management of diseases and disorders of the visual system. It is a vision care science. One can also define it as the science of eye equipment (including lenses and spectacles) which is imbued with the idea of improving the vision of the human eye and remove all kinds of obstacles of sight which an individual may experience.
AKG CIHS, a new addition to the health education sector in the northern Malabar region of Kerala was initiated in the year 2017 as a memorial of Com. A K Gopalan.
