The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) is a 4 years undergraduate medical programme. Nursing education is monitored by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), the programme focus on developing critical care, advanced thinking skills, proficiency and values necessary for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery. The programme prepares students to become responsible citizens by following a code of moral values and conduct at all times while fulfilling personal, social and professional responsibilities. B. Sc. Nursing programme involves classroom study, projects and assignments that enable students to gain practical knowledge of their learning. After the completion of the course, the students compulsorily need to do a six-month internship to experience real-world clinical settings and learn from them.

Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (P.B.B. Sc.) is a 2 years undergraduate program pursued for candidates interested by the sector of Nursing. A certified RN (Registered Nurse) is capable of administering preventive, primitive, curative, and rehabilitative offerings to sufferers and communities at large.

About College

A.K.G Memorial Co-Operative College Of Nursing was established and envisioned in August 2007, by A.K.G Memorial Co-operative Hospital, a unit of Kannur Co-operative Hospital Society Ltd.No.C 834 with an aim to mould a new generation with the skill, knowledge and attitude in providing comprehensive nursing care to the sick and the disabled and to bring about new innovations in the field of Nursing through scientific education and research.

The Northern Malabar Region of Kerala State is comparatively less developed and lacks in advanced medical facilities though Kerala take the pride of place in health care map of India. People in this area depended on hospitals in Manipal, Vellore, etc in other states for which they had to spend a lot of time and money. In order to provide advanced facilities in this area and to create an institution of excellence for people, a modern hospital complex in the co-operative sector was setup at Kannur, which facilitates for Service, Education, Training, and Research. The hospital under the "Cannanore Co-operative Hospital Society Limited, No.C-834" was called "A.K.G Memorial Co-operative Hospital Society Limited".

AKG Memorial Co-operative Hospital was started in 1980 in the month of May as a 22 bedded one. It has developed into a 450 bedded multi-speciality facilities having 24 departments with 41 doctors and 289 paramedical staff. The second unit of the society, AKG Memorial School of Nursing was started in 1985 and it had completed its 30 batches with 725 students completing their General Nursing course. The third unit of the society, AKG Memorial College of Nursing was started in 2008. It has completed the entry of the fifth batch giving admission for 247 students.
