A Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) is a 4 year undergraduate degree in the field of pharmacy. This degree is a prerequisite for registration to practice as a pharmacist. Pharmacy is the art and science of preparing and dispensing drugs and medicines. The duration of B.Pharm is four years. B.Pharm curriculum provides valuable knowledge of health care and bio chemical science. Students are expected to perform a number of experiments along with theory classes. Pharmacy education and profession in India up to graduate level is regulated by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), a statutory body governed by the provisions of the Pharmacy Act, 1948 passed by the Indian Parliament. Bachelor Degree in Pharmacy enables one to practice the profession of a Pharmacist.​

A doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) is a professional doctorate in pharmacy. ‘Pharm.D’  is a Latin term which stands for ‘Pharmaciae Doctor’ which means ‘Doctor of Pharmacy’. Pharmacy is the art and science of preparing and dispensing drugs and medicines. Pharmacy Council of India introduced the 6 years Pharm.D course in India from the academic year 2008. Pharm.D enables one to practice the profession of a Pharmacist under the Pharmacy Act, 1948. Doctor of Pharmacy Programs is focused on class room theory, penetrative laboratory experiments and motivated research projects. Only PCI approved Colleges can offer Pharm.D course.

M.Pharm in Pharmacognosy and Phytochemistry is a 2-year postgraduate course in Pharmacy which deals with the study of medicines derived from natural sources, and therefore the interactions that occur between a living organism and chemicals that affect normal or abnormal biochemical function and It is also a study of chemicals derived from plants.

M.Pharm. Pharmacology is a two years Postgraduate Pharmacy Degree Course. The Pharmacology study emphasis on the medicine and biology concerned with the study of drug action and interactions that occur between a living organism and chemicals that affect normal or abnormal biochemical functions. If a substance has medicinal properties, they are considered pharmaceuticals.

M.Pharm Pharmaceutics deals with analysis, testing and researching of drugs for the disease which is caused to the human body. There is huge job scope for this course as there is a huge demand for M.Pharm Graduates. The modernization of the Pharmaceutical industry has made a huge impact on the development of the medical field.

M.Pharm Pharmaceutical Analysis is the study of a process to identify or quantify a substance or drug, the components of a pharmaceutical solution or mixture or the determination of the structures of chemical compounds used in the formulation of a pharmaceutical product.

M. Pharm. Pharmaceutical Chemistry course gives necessary orientation and practical training in handling the various internal control and quality assurance techniques associated with Medicines and Cosmetics and their Ingredients, Various Synthetic pathways for Medicinal Agents , Structural Modifications,

Therapeutics Alteration etc.

D.Pharma or Diploma in Pharmacy is an undergraduate Diploma Course in the field of Pharmacy. Pharmacy is a medical field involved in the preparation, dispensing and appropriate use of medication meant for therapeutic purposes. The course provides the minimum qualification to become a Registered Pharmacist in India. It is also offered as D.Pharm in various medical institutes which is one and the same thing. There is no specialisation in D.Pharm and the course only provides the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science.
