Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) is a 5 years undergraduate program where the course is designed to provide licensed and professional architects who are authorized to try to private constructions and government constructions. Architectural study includes the activity of designing models of building, preparing construction’s blueprint and other physical structure of any land and building. It is a technical course which mainly focuses on the development of the skills like process of construction of commercial buildings, malls, complexes, highways construction, and civil construction by applying their innovative ideas and analytical skills which are required to become an Architect.
BA Interior Design is a 3 year undergraduate Interior Designing course. The course is based on a concern for human beings and the creation of interior settings that support human activities and values. The focus of the program is to generate awareness on the functional and aesthetic qualities of the design. The program introduces students to design principles, colour theory, space planning, and drafting and industry-standard software. Interior Design program is planned to give students exposure to different kind of projects that they may come across in their profession later. It is career orienting in nature. Students can work on live projects that emulate as far as possible a practicing design studio, with each project presented to and assessed by practicing professionals.
DC School of Architecture and Design is architecture and design institution, affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, located at DCSMAT campus in Vagamon. The Centre for Tropical Architecture managed by the School is headed by the renowned Architect T. M. Cyriac of Environmental Creations, along with eminent researchers and academicians. The school's 72-hour workshop launched in 2015 has gained immense popularity with architecture schools from across India. The workshop is usually held every year in the month of January. It is organized in partnership with NASA (National Association for Student Architects) and is a pan-India event. The Higher Education Department of Kerala has accorded their administrative sanction for additional intake of 40 B.Arch seats at DC SAAD, Vagamon during the academic year 2019-20.
