Periodontal diseases are bacterial infections that destroy the attachment fibers and supporting bone that hold the teeth in the mouth. M.D.S. Orthodontics or Master of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics is a postgraduate Dentistry course. M.D.S. Orthodontics is concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusions, the meaning of this term in colloquial language is improper bites, which might be due to the disproportionate jaw relationships, tooth irregularity or both. M.D.S. Oral Pathology or Master of Dental Surgery in Oral Pathology is a postgraduate Dentistry course. Oral Pathology is a branch of dentistry that is concerned with the diseases of the teeth, oral cavity, and jaws, and with the oral manifestations of systemic diseases. It is a science that investigates the causes, processes and effects of these diseases. The course includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations, and management of patients. The duration of the course is three years and it is career orienting in nature that opens many job scopes for them after its completion in many fields.

Masters of Dental Sciences [MDS] in Oral Medicine and radiology is a 3-year full time postgraduate course, the eligibility for which is having a bachelor’s degree in dental sciences with a minimum of 55% marks. Certain universities offer a direct entrance test for admission in the college while others require you to have already given any of the standard tests for MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology such as NEET MDS.

M.D.S. in Conservative Dentistry is 3-year post-graduate course, sub-divided into 6 semesters of 6 months each. The discipline essentially involves the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the teeth, gums, and other related structures of the mouth.
