They remove decay, fill cavities, examine x-rays, place protective plastic sealants on children’s teeth, straighten teeth, and repair fractured teeth. They also perform corrective surgery on gums and supporting bones to treat gum diseases. The duration of the course is three years and it career originating in nature and opens many jobs for them.

Periodontics or Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontics is three years postgraduate programme.  Periodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of the supporting and investing structures of the teeth including the gums, cementum, periodontal membranes, and alveolar bone. Periodontal diseases are bacterial infections that destroy the attachment fibers and supporting bone that hold the teeth in the mouth. The course helps to prevent the occurrence, if not curb the actual spread of damage already caused by the infection.

It is a science that investigates the causes, processes and effects of these diseases. The course includes research, diagnosis of diseases using clinical, radiographic, microscopic, biochemical or other examinations, and management of patients. The duration of the course is three years and it is career orienting in nature that opens many job scopes for them after its completion in many fields.

Masters of Dental Sciences [MDS] in Oral Medicine and radiology is a 3-year full time postgraduate course, the eligibility for which is having a bachelor’s degree in dental sciences with a minimum of 55% marks. Certain universities offer a direct entrance test for admission in the college while others require you to have already given any of the standard tests for MDS in Oral Medicine and Radiology such as NEET MDS.
