Mechanical Engineering is a 4-year undergraduate Engineering course, deals with the study of mechanics, kinetics, statistics, material science, thermodynamics, and structural dynamics used in development, designing, production, construction, operation, installation, and maintenance of machines, tools, and various other mechanical equipment. B.E. Mechanical Engineering course introduces fundamental concepts of machine design system and machine operation. In this course, candidates learn the physical properties of motion, force, stress, and principles of equilibrium, elasticity, compatibility and the behavior of machines.

A comprehensive study of analyzing the problem, reading through the data minutely, later on using the skills acquired through the study, candidates are able to develop or create a solution to fulfill the need of end consumer. M.E. Structural Engineering is a 2-year full-time postgraduate course. The most important objective of the course is to impart advanced learning to eligible candidates in fundamental principles of Structural analysis. Students are trained to implement such ideas through different methods, in analyses of various kinds of structures, and to evaluate force and displacement parameters of such structures. other path objectives include developing expertise in onshore infrastructure and a sound background in specialized areas such as Offshore structure/ management (general)/ Bridge structure/ Hydraulic structure.


M E Power Electronics & Drives []

M.E. Power Electronics and Drives is a 2 year postgraduate course, that course help to provide an up to date introduction on power electronics and a dynamic course in power electronics and drives and its related applications. This course combines conventional technologies with state of the art technologies which include electronics, power semiconductor devices, digital signal processors, electromagnetic, EMC, control theory, and energy technology.

In this Course, students learn themes for the study in power electronics and drives and get an in-depth understanding of power electronics and drives. candidates may also analyze power electronics technologies and scientific discipline involved in this study and by means of electric machines and power electronic converters. M.E. power Electronics and Drives course also provide the knowledge to enable modeling, design, synthesis, and simulation of the power converter.

About College

This college was started in October 1981 to fulfil the needs of the people of this region. Till then the youth of the southern districts had to go to Madurai and places farther away to pursue their engineering studies. Thus, with the starting of this college, one of the long felt expectations of the people of this area came to be fulfilled. This institution is ideally located in an extent of about 55 acres. It is about 1 km from Tirunelveli new bus stand. The college campus lies on the Tirunelveli - Trivandrum national highway.

 At its inception, the college admitted students for 3 undergraduate branches, namely Civil, Mechanical and Electronics and Communication Engineering. Electrical and Electronics Engineering branch was introduced during the academic year 1986-87. Further, Computer Science and Engineering branch has been offered since the academic year 1989 - 90. A Post-graduate course (M.E. Degree) in Computer Science and Engineering was started during 1994 - 95. Part-time B.E Degree courses are offered in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering.
