BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental surgery. It is a clinical field of surgery associated with mouth and dealing with the injuries related to teeth, jaw, and gums. It is a 5 year undergraduate degree program in dentistry to prepare students for successful career as a dental health practitioner. Dental Courses comprise didactic lectures, demonstrations, group discussions, seminars, clinical work and conferences. Aspiring candidates learn about various forms of treatment including Surgical Procedures, Dental materials, Dental anatomy & Oral histology, Oral Pathology, Community Dentistry, Pedodontics, Oral Medicine & Radiology etc. which are some of the topics that are generally taught.

M.D.S. Prosthodontics is a 3 year postgraduate Dentistry course. The Course includes Dentists diagnose, prevent, and treat problems with teeth or mouth tissue. They remove decay, fill cavities, examine x-rays, place protective plastic sealants on children’s teeth, straighten teeth, and repair fractured teeth. They also perform corrective surgery on gums and supporting bones to treat gum diseases.

M.D.S. Periodontics is a 3 year postgraduate programme.  Periodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of the supporting and investing structures of the teeth including the gums, cementum, periodontal membranes, and alveolar bone. Periodontal diseases are bacterial infections that destroy the attachment fibers and supporting bone that hold the teeth in the mouth. The course helps to prevent the occurrence, if not curb the actual spread of damage already caused by the infection.

M.D.S. in Conservative Dentistry is 3-year post-graduate course, sub-divided into 6 semesters of 6 months each. The discipline essentially involves the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the teeth, gums, and other related structures of the mouth.

M.D.S. Orthodontics is a 3 year postgraduate Dentistry course. M.D.S. Orthodontics is concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusions, the meaning of this term in colloquial language is improper bites, which might be due to the disproportionate jaw relationships, tooth irregularity or both. The duration of the course is three years and it is career originating in nature that opens many jobs for them after its passing.
