Bachelor of medicine, Bachelor of surgery - MBBS (Medicinae Baccalaureus and Bachelor of Surgery) is a five.5 year’s expert path for which the scholars are offered the ranges in medication and surgical procedure upon a success final touch of the path. The present Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences, Hubballi, (K.I.M.S. Hubballi.) was earlier known as the Karnataka Medical College, Hubballi. It was established in August 1957. For initial few years, the college was functioning from a building which is now known as J.G.Commerce College. Later, it was shifted to the present beautiful campus comprising of 100 acres of land, situated on Pune – Bangalore National Highway, Vidyanagar, Hubballi.
Since its inception, the Institution has carried a brilliant history of having a host of eminent teachers as its faculty, numerous alumni who have glorified the name of this Institute, not only in our country but across the globe. It has been playing, and continues to play a major role in serving the society at large, not only in terms of providing tertiary health care services to the needy, but also by developing resources in terms of health care providers and researchers.The decade between 1980 to 1990 changed its face of being a non – descript hospital in terms of treating cancer patients to a well known major and a model comprehensive regional center for cancer treatment & research. It was therefore capable of offering contemprory sophisticated diagnostic & therapeutic services to ever increasing numbers of cancer patients, not only from Karnataka state, but also from neighboring states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra.
