Diploma in Pharmacy or D. Pharm, is a 2-yr full-time diploma course divided into 4 semesters. The course has been designed to prepare candidates to work under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist in hospitals, community pharmacies, and other pharmaceutical related fields.The course is designed to familiarize candidates with the basic concepts of pharmaceutical science. D.Pharm to prepare students with the necessary skills and academic knowledge required for entry-level positions in retail pharmacies as well as pharmaceutical companies.

A Bachelor of Pharmacy (B Pharm) is a 4 year undergraduate degree in the field of pharmacy. This degree is a prerequisite for registration to practice as a pharmacist. The course trains students to understand the properties and impacts of medicines and developing the skills required to counsel patients about their use. B Pharm holders can work in several fields such as being a pharmacist, patient counselling, doing further studies such as master's degree, working in a university as a lecturer, or working as a drug information specialist. After the completion of this degree, the students can practice as a Pharmacist. Pharmacists can work in a range of industries related to the prescription, manufacture & provision of medicines.

M.Pharm is a postgraduate Academic Degree which is awarded for a course or program in the medical field of Pharmacy. Pharmacy is the branch of the health sciences dealing with the preparation, dispensing, and proper utilization of drugs. Some Institutes offer it as M.Pharma. Course. The duration of Master’s Degree in Pharmacy is 2 years. M.Pharma. is divided into several semesters. At the end of each semester, there is an examination wherein candidates are examined in the courses prescribed for that semester. Students are also required to submit Thesis at the end of the last semester. Master Degree in Pharmacy provides a candidate with various practical aspects of the research methodologies, instrumental techniques, emerging areas and industrial operations. There are various Pharmacy Schools in India which provide Master of Pharmacy course. M.Pharm. through distance education or correspondence is highly unlikely to be provided by any Indian Medical Institute.

A doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm. D) is a professional doctorate in pharmacy. In some countries, it is a first professional degree and a prerequisite for licensing to practice the profession of pharmacy or to become a clinical pharmacist. In many countries, Pharm.D Graduates are allowed to practice independently and can prescribe drugs directly to patients. A Pharm.D program has significant experiential or clinical education components in introductory and advanced levels for the safe and effective use of drugs.
