Bachelor of Ayurvedic medicine and surgery (BAMS) is a 5.5 years graduate degree that studies the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda.  BAMS course covers an exhaustive investigation of current life structures, physiology, social and preventive pharmaceuticals, toxicology, herbal science, ENT, standards of surgery, and alike to coach students with the normal methods in modern science. The course includes the study and application of natural herbs and its medicine within the field of health science. Ayurveda is one among the oldest systems of drugs and traces its roots to Vedic times. The study supports the curative properties of herbs and its medicines known for the natural elements that they contain.

Considered as an alternate method of treatment, the Ayurveda medicine system not only cures and prevents an ailment but also reduces the frequency with which diseases enter a person's body. It utilises the self-healing system of the body. Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) is the responsible body for admission to Ayurveda education at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level and for practice Ayurvedic medicine in India.

MD (Ay) in Kayachikitsa []

MD in Kayachikitsa is a 3 year postgraduate clinical course, imparts training in the division of General Medicine in Ayurveda. As a medical discipline, Kayachikitsa forms the basis of all other branches of Ayurvedic treatment, and hence lays the foundation for advanced skills in Ayurveda. The program has been designed to equip the scholar with skills in designing a treatment protocol comprising a range of internal and external medications and specialized therapies according to the nature of the disease and the patient.

Student will be provided with the knowledge of finer details of Ayurveda therapeutics from ancient Ayurveda texts with modern parlance and exclusive clinical training. Doctors will come out as highly competitive and successful clinical practitioners of Ayurveda and have an opportunity to open own clinics, hospitals, work in therapy centres and Ayurvedic colleges.

MD ( Ay ) Dravyaguna []

MD in Dravya-Guna is a 3 year postgraduate non-clinical course in Ayurvedic medicine, aiming an advanced study of medicinal herbs and drugs, their origin, nature, properties, and effects upon human beings. It’s the science of herbal plants. It can be correlated with the discipline of Pharmacology in modern medicine. The word 'Dravya" means 'drug'. The word 'Guna' means 'properties', therefore, the term 'Dravyaguna ' means the science that deals with the study of the properties of drugs.

Students are trained with the details of drug identification, pharmacognosy, phytochemistry, evaluation of pharmacological activities, in depth details of Ayurvedic treatises on medicinal plants. Scholar will be efficient and suitable to work in herbal industry, medicinal plant research, academics etc.

MD (Ay) in Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana []

M.D in Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana is a 3 year postgraduate program, the program basically focuses on the science of combining various metals and other substances with herbs to alleviate disorders from the diseased and help people to stay healthy and vibrant. Rasa-Shastra is a specialized branch of Ayurveda, which is designed to deal with the preparation of mineral and inorganic-based drugs in order to treat various diseases. It is the study of combination of certain minerals and metals including mercury with herbs and their properties, and therapeutic uses. During the course, students learn about the useful properties of metals, like copper, mercury, gold, silver, and such which when combined with different herbs, help in eliminating disorders like eye diseases, increasing fat metabolism, jaundice, hepatitis, etc. and keep a person healthy. Rasa Shastra is faster than other ayurvedic branches.

MD in Rasa Shastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana Ayurvedic pharmacy course that mainly deals with herbal formulations. Subject includes details of design and development of formulations, standardization, quality control, pharmacy practice, forensic pharmacy etc giving ample opportunity to prepare the scholar suitable for Ayurvedic and herbal pharma industry, R & D centres and academics.

MD ( Ay ) Panchakarma []

M.D in Ayurveda- Panchakarma is a 3 year postgraduate program in Ayurveda specialized in Panchakarma. Panchkarma is a study that deals with the five modes of the detoxification process, used to treat illness using the method of Ayurveda. Candidates are taught theory and get real-time practice gain relevance about the principles of Shodhana or Bio-Purification method, training them to become professional research scholars, Ayurvedic physician or a surgeon contributing their services to the field of medical and health science.

MD (Ay) - Agad Tantra is a 3 year postgraduate Ayurveda course. Agadtantra deals with toxins; it mentions the ways of getting rid of poisoning in the body. During the course, students are introduced to many types of poisons found both in plants and animals; their diagnosis; treatments and other related fields.

M.S. (Ay) in SHALYATANTRA []

M.S. Shalya Tantra is a 3 year postgraduate Ayurvedic medical course, mainly focus on areas like Wound Management, Fracture Healing, Ano-Rectal Diseases, and Urinary Disorders. Students are taught of ancient surgical procedures which explains in clinical, treatises, and surgical applications of various treatment modalities, treatment of chronic diseases, practical training with blood-letting through leeches, successful treatment for piles and fistula, and surgical procedures on patients.

This study deals with the surgical techniques, diagnosis of the surgical disorders, and surgical emergency management also demonstrates and explains surgical procedures and its knowledge that was performed and used before. In this course, student’s aims to include evaluating and discovering drug compounds, studying dosage requirements, identifying possible interactions with other medicines and discovering the possible side effects of the medicines.

K.V.G. Ayurveda Medical College is located in Sullia Taluk, Dakshina Kannada, and Karnataka, sponsored by the Academy of Liberal Education (Reg.) Sullia, was established in the year 1996 under the able and dynamic leadership of its Founder President Sri. Kurunji Venkatramana Gowda. K.V.G. Ayurveda Medical College has highly qualified teaching and non-teaching staff. The institution provides Ayurveda education at the graduate and post graduate levels, regulated by the statutory apex body- the Central Council of Indian Medicine (C.C.I.M), Delhi -and affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore, Karnataka. All rules and regulations regarding eligibility for admission, Curriculum, Terms and Conditions, Attendance, fees payable for registration , migration of eligibility certificate, university and Medical examination, etc. are as prescribed by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Karnataka, Bangalore.
