The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) is a 4 years undergraduate medical programme. Nursing education is monitored by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), the programme focus on developing critical care, advanced thinking skills, proficiency and values necessary for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery. The programme prepares students to become responsible citizens by following a code of moral values and conduct at all times while fulfilling personal, social and professional responsibilities. B. Sc. Nursing programme involves classroom study, projects and assignments that enable students to gain practical knowledge of their learning. After the completion of the course, the students compulsorily need to do a six-month internship to experience real-world clinical settings and learn from them.
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (P.B.B. Sc.) is a 2 years undergraduate program pursued for candidates interested by the sector of Nursing. A certified RN (Registered Nurse) is capable of administering preventive, promotive, curative, and rehabilitative offerings to sufferers and communities at large.
M. Sc Nursing is a postgraduate path in theories and principles of nursing and allied sciences. A candidate has to be a B.Sc. / B.Sc. (Hons) graduate in Nursing from a recognized university with a view to be eligible for this path.
MACCON was started by the MAC (Educational) Foundation in 1991 to be an adjunct nursing talent incubator to the 400-bed Voluntary Health Services Hospital. The college offers three popular courses - B.Sc. (Nursing) - 4 years, Post Basic B.Sc. (Nursing) - 2 years and M.Sc. (Nursing) -2 years. MACCON is affiliated to the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University and is recognized by both the Tamilnadu Nurses and Midwives Council and the Indian Nursing Council.
Graduates from MACCON are trained and professionally equipped to deliver quality nursing care to individuals, families and groups not only through institutions but also in homes and communities independently. These professional nurses also have the knowledge, capacity and encouragement to participate actively in nursing administration and teaching.
