B.A.S.L.P. or Bachelor in Audiology and Speech Language Pathology is an undergraduate Audiology programme. The Course includes Speech pathology, Language Pathology and Audiology. The allied subjects are linguistics, Electronics, Acoustics, Psychology and Statistics. The basic medical subjects that prepare the foundation in the clinical competence are Anatomy, Physiology, Pathology and the specialized medical subjects are Otolaryngology, Neurology, and Paediatrics. The duration of the BASLP Programme shall extend over six Semesters of coursework (three academic years) plus two Semesters (one academic year) of an internship. Each semester shall consist of 16 weeks of study (excluding the time spent for the conduct of the final examination of each semester).
Nitte Institute of Speech and Hearing, Mangalore was conceived under the banner of Nitte Education Trust in the year 2007. The college Institute offers 4 years Bachelors in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology course recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India, New Delhi, approved by Government of Karnataka and affiliated by Mangalore University, Mangalore.
The Institute is spearheaded by the founder Principal Prof. T. Dattatreya (currently Director, Technical). A total of 8 Batches have passed out from the Institution. Students of these batches have obtained 11 ranks from Mangalore University. Our Alumini are serving all over India and abroad.
