M.Sc. Biotechnology (CBCS) []

0 First Year Fees

M.Sc. Biotechnology (CBCS) is introduced under the faculty of Biological Sciences. The course is designed to provide wider career options and increased employability of the students. In CBCS, the major change is a shift from the traditional marking system to a grading system. It provides an opportunity for the students to choose from the prescribed courses comprising core, elective (generic and discipline specific) or skill based courses according to their learning needs, interests, and aptitude. Biotechnology is an interdisciplinary course that involves use of biological systems in product development. The principal aim of this program is to introduce the students to classical and modern concepts in biology and its applications in research. This program provides a hands on basic and comprehensive grounding in multidisciplinary science of modern and classical biomedical science. The most unique feature in M.Sc. Biotechnology is the year long project work/dissertation that a student can undertake from the third semester along with course-work. The final semester is dedicated to the project work. The project work provides a strong foundation for a career in innovation and advanced research competency.

M.Sc. Food Safety & Biotechnology []

0 First Year Fees

In the M.Sc. programme the focus is on gaining advanced knowledge in the field of food safety. The course curriculum is designed to introduce the students to more complex mechanisms related to food safety and public health in order to train them for a career in advanced research in health science. In CBCS, the major change is a shift from the traditional marking system to a grading system. It provides an opportunity for the students to choose from the prescribed courses comprising core, elective (generic and discipline specific) or skill based courses according to their learning needs, interests, and aptitude. In the first year, the curriculum comprises of fundamental subjects, which includes food chemistry, cell and molecular biology, biochemistry, immunology and specialized subjects like food microbiology, bioinformatics and computational biology, research methodology & biostatistics and research ethics and IPR. In addition, the students will get hands-on training on the tools used in techniques in food science under the skill enhancement course. The second year will have subjects that are highly specialized including courses like food standards, certifications and quality control, food additives and adulterants, food packaging and storage and nanobiotechnology, food toxicology, bioprocessing and fermentation technology as part of the discipline specific electives. The most unique feature in M.Sc. Food Safety & Biotechnology is the provision for a full-time research project in the second year.

B.Sc. (HONOURS) BIO MEDICAL SCIENCE []

0 First Year Fees

B.Sc. Biomedical Science or Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science is an undergraduate Bioscience programme. Biomedical science is the term for the investigations carried out by biomedical scientists on samples of tissue and body fluids to diagnose disease and monitor the treatment of patients. After passing the course, they have many jobs scopes in various fields both government and private.

0 First Year Fees

M.Sc. Microbiology or Master of Science in Microbiology is a postgraduate Microbiology course. Biochemistry is the discipline in which scientists combine chemistry and biology to investigate living systems and their relationship to the environment. M.Sc. (Microbiology) covers the studies of microorganisms and their effect on humans. It gives the theoretical and practical knowledge of the subject. The duration of M.Sc. in Microbiology is two academic years and the syllabus is divided into four semesters. The syllabus for the course is divided into four semesters.

M.Sc. Biomedical Science []

0 First Year Fees

M.Sc. Biomedical Science or Master of Science in Biomedical Science is a postgraduate Bioscience course. Biomedical Science is the application of the principles of the natural sciences to medicine. Candidates will study life processes to gain an understanding of health and the methods for diagnosing, analyzing and treating disease. Subjects covered are broadly similar to the pre-clinical components of a medical degree, with the addition of molecular biology, the screening and evaluation of new drugs, and the relationship between the environment and health. Biomedical scientists focus on how cells, organs and systems function in the human body, an exciting and dynamic area that is highly relevant to the understanding and treatment of human diseases. The course is career originating in nature that provides many jobs after its completion.

M.Sc Marine Biotechnology []

0 First Year Fees

M.Sc Marine Biotechnology is a 2 year postgraduate Biotechnology course. Marine Biotechnology is the application of molecular and cellular biology to marine and fresh water organisms for the purpose of identifying, developing, and enhancing products derived from these organisms. During the course the candidates are introduced to a variety of aspects such as Fundamentals of Oceanography, Cell Biology and Genetics, Marine Biology, Genetic Engineering, Applications of Immunology and the like.

About College

Nitte University has established a research center, Nitte University Center for Science Education and Research (NUCSER). Biomedical Science is an interdisciplinary science that involves the study of human health and disease. Biomedical scientists are trained in various disciplines to gain an understanding of how the human body is organized (anatomy), how the various organs and cells function (physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology), what are the structural and chemical changes taking place in human system in various diseases (pathology and clinical biochemistry), various causative agents of diseases (microbiology, non-communicable diseases, cancer biology), diagnosis (clinical pathology, microbiology, biochemistry and molecular biology) chemotherapeutic agents used in the treatment of diseases (pharmacology) and instrumentation (biophysics).
