MDS in Prosthodontics is a 3 year postgraduate program in dentistry. Prosthodontics is the branch of Dentistry that deals with replacement and restoration of damaged or lost teeth using artificial tools and techniques such as dentures, implants, bridges, crowns, and veneers. They are also concerned with managing facial abnormalities resulting from injuries, birth defects, and diseases. Appearance, comfort, and aesthetics of a patient are taken care of by a Prosthodontist.

Bacteria commonly found in the mouth can cause disease and inflammation in the gums. Those diseased gums can then trigger serious problems throughout the rest of the mouth. When left untreated, inflammation that affects the periodontal tissue can attack other structures in the mouth, such as the teeth and the jawbone.
