Bachelor of Occupational Therapy is a 4 year undergraduate Occupational Therapy course. Occupational Therapy is an area of medicine that steps beyond the 'prevention and cure' mantra to the maximal independence of the individual. It focuses on recuperation, giving confidence to people whose disability may be caused by a stroke, a mental illness, a physical and mental weariness because of cardiac or other illnesses or even a hereditary deficiency. Occupational Therapy, also known as ergo-medicine (alternative medicine), is a fast-developing branch of medical science. Its prospects are very demanding in various branches of medical sciences like Neurology, Orthopaedics, Burn, Oncology, Paediatrics, and even in Psychological conditions like mental retardation.
Saveetha College of Occupational Therapy had been re-established in the year 2017 under Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical sciences, with an idea of imparting knowledge to the students to achieve the goal of promoting health and well-being of the patients through occupation.
Saveetha Medical College and Hospital is situated in Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu state of India. Established in 2008, it is accredited from Medical Council of India (MCI), AICTE and it is affiliated to Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R.Medical University. SMCH, Kanchipuram offers 49 courses across 4 streams namely Medical, Pharmacy, Science, and Paramedical and across 5 degrees like BSc, MD, MS (Surgery), MSc, M.Ed.Hostel facility is not available for its students. Additional campus facilities such as Academic Zone, A/C, AV Lab, Auditorium, ATM, Boys Hostel, Canteen, Computer Lab, Convo. Hall, Counselling are also there.
