Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) is a 5 years undergraduate program where the course is designed to provide licensed and professional architects who are authorized to try to private constructions and government constructions. Architectural study includes the activity of designing models of building, preparing construction’s blueprint and other physical structure of any land and building. It is a technical course which mainly focuses on the development of the skills like process of construction of commercial buildings, malls, complexes, highways construction, and civil construction by applying their innovative ideas and analytical skills which are required to become an Architect.
M.Arch Habitat Design is a 2 year postgraduate Architecture program. Habitat design is a process of conscious design synthesis that comes out from a methodical and holistic understanding of the built environment. The course of action suggests contextual references to be gathered from the cause and effects of nature and its artifacts at all relative scale. It is a multi-disciplinary design approach that integrates a large number of associated realms for a sustainable environment such as Urban Planning, Architecture, Anthropology, Sociology, Ecology, Economics and Politics.
Kalasalingam School of Architecture (KSOA) started with the aim to provide world-class learning environment in architectural design; in the deeper areas of South Tamilnadu. The Kalasalingam School of Architecture offers five years full-time Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) and two years full-time Master of architecture in Habitat Design (M.Arch). The institution started in 2012 with the approval of Council of Architecture, New Delhi; today the institution has a sanctioned in take of 80 students (B.Arch) and 20 students (M.Arch).
Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education was established in 1984 by the Kalasalingam Anandam Ammal Charities."Kalvivallal" Thiru T. Kalasalingam, veteran freedom fighter, was the founder chairman. It was granted deemed to be university status in 2006. In November 2017, following a directive by the University Grants Commission (UGC) to drop the "University" from the name it was renamed Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education. Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education is situated at Krishnankoil, 65 kilometres south of Madurai and 10 kilometres north of Srivilliputhur, in Madurai-Shenkottah National Highway (NH208). The location is at the foothills of the Western Ghats in a rural setting of Virudhunagar District. The Deemed to be University sporting facilities include an athletic track, basketball courts, tennis courts and a football ground. The campus is WiFi enabled and available with a SunFire 4800 enterprise server, a SunFire T1000 server, six IBM Blade servers, four Wipro rack servers, six desktop servers (from HP and HCL), and nine TB of storage for the computing and storage needs of the faculty and students. The central server farm includes file servers, a database server, a mail server, a web server, a backup server, a proxy server, and an e-learning server.
