Bachelor of Ayurvedic medicine and surgery (BAMS) is a 5.5 years graduate degree that  study  the integrated system of modern medicine and traditional Ayurveda.  BAMS course covers an exhaustive investigation of current life structures, physiology, social and preventive pharmaceuticals, toxicology, herbal science, ENT, standards of surgery, and alike to coach students with the normal methods in modern science. The course includes the study and application of natural herbs and its medicine within the field of health science. Ayurveda is one among the oldest systems of drugs and traces its roots to Vedic times. The study support the curative properties of herbs and its medicines known for the natural elements that they contain.

Considered as an alternate method of treatment, the Ayurveda medicine system not only cures and prevents an ailment but also reduces the frequency with which diseases enter a person's body. It utilises the self-healing system of the body. Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) is the responsible body for admission to Ayurveda education at undergraduate as well as postgraduate level and for practice Ayurvedic medicine in India.

MD (Ay) in Kayachikitsa []

MD in Kayachikitsa is 2 to 3 year postgraduate clinical course, imparts training in the division of General Medicine in Ayurveda. As a medical discipline, Kayachikitsa forms the basis of all other branches of Ayurvedic treatment, and hence lays the foundation for advanced skills in Ayurveda. The program has been designed to equip the scholar with skills in designing a treatment protocol comprising a range of internal and external medications and specialized therapies according to the nature of the disease and the patient.

Student will be provided with the knowledge of finer details of Ayurveda therapeutics from ancient Ayurveda texts with modern parlance and exclusive clinical training. Doctors will come out as highly competitive and successful clinical practitioners of Ayurveda and have an opportunity to open own clinics, hospitals, work in therapy centres and Ayurvedic colleges.

M.S. (Ay) in SHALYATANTRA []

M.S. Shalya Tantra is a 3 year postgraduate Ayurvedic medical course, mainly focus on areas like Wound Management, Fracture Healing, Ano-Rectal Diseases, and Urinary Disorders. Students are taught of ancient surgical procedures which explains in clinical, treatises, and surgical applications of various treatment modalities, treatment of chronic diseases, practical training with blood-letting through leeches, successful treatment for piles and fistula, and surgical procedures on patients.

This study deals with the surgical techniques, diagnosis of the surgical disorders, and surgical emergency management also demonstrates and explains surgical procedures and its knowledge that was performed and used before. In this course, student’s aims to include evaluating and discovering drug compounds, studying dosage requirements, identifying possible interactions with other medicines and discovering the possible side effects of the medicines.

B.Sc. Nursing (Ayurveda) []

The B.Sc Nursing Ayurveda is a 4 years undergraduate medical programme. Nursing education is monitored by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), the programme focus on developing critical care, advanced thinking skills, proficiency and values necessary for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery. The programme prepares students to become responsible citizens by following a code of moral values and conduct at all times while fulfilling personal, social and professional responsibilities. B. Sc. Nursing programme involves classroom study, projects and assignments that enable students to gain practical knowledge of their learning. After the completion of the course, the students compulsorily need to do a six-month internship to experience real-world clinical settings and learn from them.

About College

After getting obligatory permissions from CCIM and AYUSH, the institute started functioning in the academic year 2004-05. The intake capacity is 60 students for four and half (4 ½) year BAMS course. Among the 60 students, 50% are allotted by commissioner of Entrance Examinations, Government of Kerala and the rest by the management.

Sree Narayana Institute of Ayurvedic Studies & Research is located at Pangode, Puthur, in Kollam District of Kerala. The eco-friendly campus boasts 32 acres of land in rural Kerala. The equipments, instruments and furniture of the classrooms, libraries and other facilities meet and exceed CCIM requirements.
The college is affiliated with University of Kerala and Kerala University of Health Sciences.
"Sree Narayana Institute of Ayurvedic Studies and Research" under Sree Narayana Health Care Society is functioning with the goal of serving the disabled and ill. Ours' is a charitable organization providing treatment for poor patients.

Sree Narayana Institute of Ayurvedic Studies and Research was established in the year 2004 by Sree Narayana Health Care Society. It is a registered charitable society constituted by a group of social workers, educationalists and devotees of Sree Narayana Guru. Sree Narayana Guru, a well respected and devoted figure was a saint, social reformer and educationalist. Above all, he was an Ayurvedic physician. The objective of the society is to impart high quality education, research and treatment in Ayurveda, traditional system of medicine and treatment.
