The course includes study related to computer languages, application of computer science in IT field, Data Structures, Mathematics involved in computer science, and alike.  MCA curriculum is inclined more towards Application Development and thus it has more emphasis on latest programming languages and tools. MCA course includes various aspects of computational theory, programming, algorithm design and optimization, network and database management, mobile technologies, electronics, mathematics, probability, statistics etc. BCA makes a base while MCA adds a specialized touch within the subjects studied in BCA.

Sri Muthukumaran Institute of Technology is a Self financing Engineering college located in the Kundrathur main road at a distance of around 15 km from the Chennai city. The Institution is approved by AICTE, New Delhi & affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. The Institute has got recognition from UGC under 2(f) and 12(B) scheme. The Institution is accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with B+ grade in the year 2018 and participated in the National Institute of Ranking Framework (NIRF) process. Our college has also participated in the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE). The college is in the 23rd year of illustrious functioning and contributing to the cause of Engineering & Management Education. The college has got state-of-the-art infrastructure and qualified & experienced faculty members. We offer 6 UG programs viz. B.E.-Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and B.Tech. Information Technology. Two Research Centres, one in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering and the other in Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering are functioning with the recognition of Anna University to facilitate M.S. through Research and Ph.D. programs under Anna University. Five of the UG programs are accredited two times by NBA and we are in the process getting reaccreditation.


The SMIT campus is spread on a serene sylvan setting on the eastern side of the famous Mangadu Kamatchi Amman Temple. The atmosphere is conducive to academic and research pursuit in an area of 10.31 acres at east of Chikkarayapuram, Kundrathur Road, Mangadu, Chennai – 600 069, and on the outskirts west of Chennai city, on the Kumananchavadi-Kundrathur Tambaram road.

It is about 15 Kilometers from Tambaram Railway station and about 23 Kilometers from Parrys corner. It is easily accessible by frequent city buses and also by a large fleet of our college buses.
