BDS stands for Bachelor of Dental surgery. it is a clinical field of surgery associated with mouth and dealing with the injuries related to teeth, jaw, and gums. It is a 5 year undergraduate degree program in dentistry to prepare students for successful career as a dental health practitioner.
M.D.S. in Conservative Dentistry is 3-year post-graduate course, sub-divided into 6 semesters of 6 months each. The discipline essentially involves the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases of the teeth, gums, and other related structures of the mouth.
M.D.S. Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery or Master of Dental Surgery in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery is a postgraduate Dentistry program. Oral and Maxillofacial surgery deal with the diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of diseases, injuries and defects of the human jaws and associated oral and facial structures. It is also a surgery to treat many diseases, injuries and defects in the head, neck, face, jaws and the hard and soft tissues of the oral (mouth) and maxillofacial (jaws and face) region. The course helps to develop skilled professionals in diagnosis, surgical and adjunctive treatment of disease, injuries, defects of the human jaws and associated oral & facial structures.
M.D.S. Orthodontics or Master of Dental Surgery in Orthodontics is a postgraduate Dentistry course. M.D.S. Orthodontics is concerned with the study and treatment of malocclusions, the meaning of this term in colloquial language is improper bites, which might be due to the disproportionate jaw relationships, tooth irregularity or both. The duration of the course is three years and it is career originating in nature that opens many jobs for them after its passing.
M.D.S. Periodontics or Master of Dental Surgery in Periodontics is three years postgraduate programme. Periodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of the supporting and investing structures of the teeth including the gums, cementum, periodontal membranes, and alveolar bone. Periodontal diseases are bacterial infections that destroy the attachment fibers and supporting bone that hold the teeth in the mouth. The course helps to prevent the occurrence, if not curb the actual spread of damage already caused by the infection.

M.D.S. Prosthodontics or Master of Dental Surgery in Prosthodontics is a postgraduate Dentistry course. The Course includes Dentists diagnose, prevent, and treat problems with teeth or mouth tissue. They remove decay, fill cavities, examine x-rays, place protective plastic sealants on children’s teeth, straighten teeth, and repair fractured teeth. They also perform corrective surgery on gums and supporting bones to treat gum diseases. The duration of the course is three years and it career originating in nature and opens many jobs for them.
M.D.S. Oral Pathology & Microbiology or Master of Dental Surgery in Oral Pathology & Microbiology is postgraduate Dentistry course. The Course includes the study which deals with the nature, identification, and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions. It is the science which investigates the causes, process and effects of these diseases. Oral pathology department is to provide basic knowledge of Normal Dental Anatomy and Histology and its pathological form for improved understanding of the oral diseases and increased skill in its diagnosis. Sri Siddhartha Education Society started the Dental College in 1992 at Tumkur – a rural District of Karnataka, with an aim to bring professional Training and advanced treatment facility to door steps of the rural masses.
The college is well equipped and housed in a building measuring 40,000 Sq.ft in an 25 acres, 100 meters away from Sri Siddhartha Medical College. The College has qualified and dedicated staffs that are always ready to help the student in shaping their future.
All the departments have separate undergraduate and Post graduate clinics with separate seminar halls and laboratories. The college has a mobile dental unit van to take care of rural population. The teaching staff and infrastructure are as per the Dental Council norms. The teaching faculty have attended several conferences and presented papers.
