GNM stands for General Nursing and Midwifery and focuses on educating nursing students on the topics of general health care and midwifery. Nursing and Midwifery focuses on the care of individuals, families, and communities so they may attain, maintain, or recover optimal health and quality of life from conception to death. Duration of the course is 3 years.
The Bachelor of Science in Nursing (B.Sc. Nursing) is a 4 years undergraduate medical programme. Nursing education is monitored by the Indian Nursing Council (INC), the programme focus on developing critical care, advanced thinking skills, proficiency and values necessary for the practice of professional nursing and midwifery. The programme prepares students to become responsible citizens by following a code of moral values and conduct at all times while fulfilling personal, social and professional responsibilities. B. Sc. Nursing programme involves classroom study, projects and assignments that enable students to gain practical knowledge of their learning. After the completion of the course, the students compulsorily need to do a six-month internship to experience real-world clinical settings and learn from them.
St. Ann's School of Nursing was founded in the year 1998 and College of Nursing was founded in the year 2006 and is an establishment of sisters of St. Ann of providence. The society was founded in Italy in the year 1834, whose roots extended to India in the early 20th century and, later started St.Ann’s Hospital at Fathimanagar in the district of Warangal in the state of Andhra Pradesh in the year 1954. As the hospital grew from its humble beginning with 20 beds to 100 bedded strong health centre, the need for qualified staff and holistic health care was felt, which served as the anchor to start the College of Nursing. St. Ann’s College of Nursing is affiliated to Dr. KNR University of Health Sciences, Hyderabad and recognized by the state nursing council of Andhra Pradesh as well as Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi. The course on offer in the current academic year is B.Sc Nursing 4 Year Degree course.
