Course has five area of specialization: media studies, government communication, health communication, organizational communication and variety in communication. The program consists of core program devoted to the hardware description languages, design basics of VLSI systems and CAD tools. About College

Velammal College of Engineering and Technology was established in 2007 to impart quality technical education to the socially and the economically challenged sections of South Tamil Nadu. It is a non-minority institution runs under self supporting stream. It is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and is affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. This college was established by the visionary Shri. M. V. Muthuramalingam, a Professional Engineer and Chairman of the Velammal Educational Trust, Chennai.
Velammal College of Engineering and Technology is headed by Dr. N. Suresh Kumar, an astute leader with more than two decades of academic & administrative experience. The institution houses a team of well learned and experienced leaders as Heads of various departments. The College has excellent human resources for teaching and learning activities. There are around 40 Ph.D holders among the teaching fraternity and they are followed by an equal number of members pursuing their Ph.D. The institution invites leading academicians such as eminent professors, lead scientists and seasoned administrators to deliver guest lectures so as to update the knowledge of students /staff in their respective domains.
The college has a well established infrastructure with 162 experienced faculty members. Students who have achieved both in academics and sports are to be honoured during the college day. Rs. 6,37,220/- lakhs worth prizes are won by students in 2016-17 and they are awarded with an equal prize money during the College day. The students who stand first in academics are given cash prizes. Faculty who produced centum results are appreciated with 2000/- Rs cash award for each paper & 1000/- for more than 95%. The total prize amount received by the faculty members was Rs 7,32,200/- lakhs in the academic year 2016-17.
