Master of Law in Corporate Law is a postgraduate 1 year course, which is designed to educate students about how interaction between shareholders, directors, employees, creditors, and other stakeholders such as consumers, the community, and the environment takes place in the corporate world. Corporate Law is a branch of law that includes law of corporations or companies. The course involves a detailed study of all matters within the corporate sectors, from the birth of companies to their dissolution. It also includes issues related to flotation of companies, corporate restructuring, and corporate governance, among others.
Master of Law (LLM) in International Law and Development is a 1 year course. International Law is traditionally separated into two branches: jus gentium, or the customary laws articulating standards of international conduct; and jus inter gentes, or international agreements and treaties. An LLM in International Law provides the student with specialized knowledge of the framework governing stable international relations. While an LLM alone does not entitle the bearer to practice law, graduates from an LLM in International Law program are better equipped to meet relevant challenges in their careers.
LLM in Intellectual Property Law deals with rights to discoveries, inventions, designs, literary, musical and artistic works, words, phrases and symbols. An LLM in Intellectual Property law provides a master’s-level academic specialization to supplement an existing law education. Ph.D. Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE) is a 3-year Doctoral level program in Electronic Engineering. The course comprises of in-depth research work and is subjective in nature, wherein the students are required to submit their research thesis at the end of the program to be rewarded the doctorate title. Course integrates the study of electrical field combining it with an in-depth research work. Students are introduced to the workings of electricity, electromagnetism, and electronics. Students after gaining a deeper perspective of the subject are made eligible to conduct research work and thereby generate thesis on their topic of interest.
The PhD programme in Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) is a research-based programme. The research can be in any of the broad areas in ECE. The core strength of the institute is currently in the following core areas: signal/speech /image processing, VLSI and embedded systems, robotics, and communications. The main emphasis of this programme is on a thesis. Work towards the thesis requires a good understanding the state of art in an area, problem formulation, original contributions based on analysis with sufficient mathematical rigour and validation. It was established under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission (UGC) Act, 1956, and was founded in 1984 as a self-financing institution called the Vellore Engineering College.
